Climate commitments validated by the SBTi!

Profils Systèmes is delighted to announce that the CO2 emissions reduction targets of the Corialis® Group, to which it belongs, have been validated by the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative).

In August 2023, the Corialis® Group submitted its carbon emissions reduction targets to the SBTi for validation.

The SBTi is an initiative designed to help companies reduce their CO2 emissions. It was created in 2015 during COP21 through a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Companies joining the SBTi commit to setting greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets aligned with scientific recommendations issued following COP21.

After an in-depth review, the SBTi approved the Corialis® Group’s short-term targets on 27 February 2024, confirming their alignment with the global ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

This achievement highlights the determination of the Corialis® Group and all its subsidiaries, including Profils Systèmes, to minimise their climate impact across the entire value chain.

Short-Term CO2 Emissions Reduction Targets

Regarding short-term science-based targets, it is important to note that they must include Scopes 1 and 2 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), failing which validation is denied. Scope 3 must also be included if it represents more than 40% of the company’s total emissions.

Accordingly, the Corialis® Group is committed to reducing its Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions by 25.5% by 2030, compared with 2022 as the baseline year.

Corialis® also aims to increase its annual renewable electricity supply from 63% in 2022 to 100% by 2030.

Fully aware that aluminium billet purchases account for nearly 70% of the Group’s greenhouse gas emissions, the Corialis® Group will concentrate its efforts on optimising its billet sourcing.
