The Wallis&Outdoor® aluminium bioclimatic patio cover: fully weatherproof and with outstanding wind resistance certified by the CSTB

12 april 2016 - Product News

Last October, the Wallis&Outdoor bioclimatic patio cover from Profils Systèmes was put through a demanding series of tests by the CSTB in their Jules Verne wind tunnel. It passed them all with flying colours!

In its climatic wind tunnel, the CSTB carried out a comprehensive set of tests on a Profils Systèmes 4m×4m Wallis&Outdoor patio cover in order to analyse its impermeability to rain, its rainwater evacuation capacity, its aerodynamic behaviour, and the behaviour of its adjustable-angle slats in high winds.

Wallis&Outdoor® pergola rain tests:

These tests were conducted to verify the patio cover’s leak tightness and the rainwater evacuation efficiency of its gutters.

The results showed that no water penetrated between the slats no matter how severe the tested rainfall conditions, which went up to 170mm/hour.

Moreover, no overspill of water was observed from the gutters, which channeled the rainwater perfectly through the downcomers in the posts to the outlet at the base.

Wallis&Outdoor® pergola wind tests:

Testing in high winds was carried out on the lean-to version only. The legs were shortened to 1m high to limit the barrier effect of the lean-to layout.

For every different wind direction in regard to the slats, and for all slat positions (semi-open or closed), no vibration damage was observed.

The wind resistance of the slats was therefore ratified in the severest of wind conditions, with gusts up to 238km/h.

Totally weatherproof and rock steady in the very harshest of weather conditions, the Wallis&Outdoor® pergola is undisputedly the sturdiest product on the bioclimatic patio cover market.

These assets make it ideal for installation in seaside and coastal locations as well as tropical climates.
